The fallopian tube is where fertilization of the egg occurs. During a natural pregnancy, the sperm and the egg join together to form an embryo, while in one of the fallopian tubes. If there is tubal damage, this is unlikely to happen or, in some cases, the fertilized egg may actually implant into the tube – this is an ectopic pregnancy, which can lead to serious complications.
